It’s October which means Christmas is [nearly] here and we invite you to join us for our festive programme 🖤 We have something for everyone including two family Christmas productions and have compiled our full list of shows and events into a handy blogpost.

THE NUTSHELL CHRISTMAS PROGRAMME ↓
A WINTER’S TAIL 🐭 3 DEC | £15
On Tuesday 3rd December, join The Last Baguette for their production of A Winter’s Tail, where you can help Ratty and her friends on their journey through the snow! The show lasts 1 hour including a stay and play session, and there are three performance times during the day: 10am, 11:30 am and 2pm. A Winter’s Tail is created for ages 2+ and their grown-ups, and each ticket includes a hot drink and mince pie.
THE NUTSHELL CHRISTMAS MAKERS MARKET 🛍️ 6 + 7 DEC | FREE ENTRY
Our Christmas Makers Market is back for another year! On Friday 6th and Saturday 7th December, visit our makers and creatives as they sell their amazing wares, perfect for presents under the tree. This hand-curated market will feature some of Hampshire's most talented independent crafters, who will be on hand to discuss their creative process, tools and techniques as well as selling their finest products. This Makers Market offers an authentic shopping experience, where visitors can buy unique handmade products, meet local creatives and support Winchester-based talent. This two-day event will run on Friday 6th December from 5-10pm and Saturday 7th December from 10am-4pm, and the cafe and bar will be open serving homemade boozy mulled wine and baked goods from Jess Cooks.
THE NUTSHELL COMEDY CLUB 🎤 7 DEC | £22
The Nutshell Comedy Club will be bringing down the roof on Saturday 7th December! Come and join us and host Paul McCaffrey, grab a drink at the bar, pre-order some grub and settle in for a night of big laughs as we welcome award-winning comedian Rachel Fairburn and a line-up of fantastic comedians for our final Comedy Club of the year.
THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE ❄️ 12-14 DEC | £12+
Join Discarded Nut Youth Theatre for their production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe - the perfect Christmas adventure suitable for all the family. When Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie are evacuated from London to the country estate of a mysterious professor, little did they think that they would discover the magical world of Narnia whilst hiding in an enchanted wardrobe. The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe runs from Thursday 12th - Saturday 14th December, with a Pay What You Can option available for all tickets across the run.
THE NUTSHELL JAZZ CLUB 🎤 19 DEC | £22
The Nutshell Jazz Club returns with The Nutshell House Band led by saxophonist Alex Western-King. Our ongoing collaboration with Winchester Jazz Festival, December’s Jazz Club will be a festive night of music, with food available from Proven Slice. The 19th December also sees our JazzBops event for our younger audience members.
THE NUTSHELL CABARET CLUB 🎤 27 DEC | £22
On Friday 27th December, step into the intriguing world of cabaret as you join Mercury (international idiot and cross dressed crooner) and friends for a night of decadence and debauchery at The Nutshell Cabaret Club! Featuring some of the UK’s top cabaret, burlesque and variety artists, this is an evening not to be missed! 27 DEC | £22
THE SNOWSMITH ❄️ 28-31 DEC | £10+
And last but my no means least, our final event of the Christmas season is a magnificent production for all the family. The Snowsmith comes to The Nutshell from Saturday 28th to Tuesday 31st December,, and is the perfect post-Christmas theatre experience. Get lost in a world of breathtaking puppetry, live songs and folk music, all led by captivating storytellers; grab your goggles and join in with inventor Eira’s madcap adventure as she battles a fearsome whale, explores an abandoned mine, and meets herds of goats whilst finding unlikely friends in the strangest of places.
We are buzzing to be presenting such a packed programme for our Christmas season and extend a huge festive thanks for supporting us on our journey.
